Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) - Billy Ramirez, Week 4

 


July 27 - Thursday


I worked on my project remotely so there is nothing much to talk about here other than my delayed flight headed to San Francisco later that day to attend
the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. To top it off, I had to pay extra for a carry-on but you know, anything for Ms. Swift! 



July 28 - Friday


This day I was off because I went to see the one and only Ms. Taylor. Earlier, since my university was on the way to the Taylor concert we took a pitstop and I had a little photoshoot.

July 31 - Monday 

This day was very slow. The most I did this day was scan over 100 pages from a book for my project. It was very tedious and my back ached. I sorted through the pages and added them to my google classroom. This took roughly 2 hours. I had some check-ins with my supervisor and my day was done. 



August 1 - Tuesday 

I worked from home so nothing really to elaborate on except working on my Google Classroom. 


August 2 - Wednesday 

This day was also a slow one. Once I entered the building to my 16th floor, I heard there were yoga goats at the ground level and free breakfast. I was sad because I had to miss seeing the goats for a board meeting so hooray! After, I finalized my project by working on the bibliography and headed home after. 


August 3 - Thursday

This day I worked from home so there is nothing much to talk about. 


August 4 - Friday

Sadly, this was my last day :/ My supervisor was very helpful and I am very appreciative of all the invaluable skills and lessons I gained from this internship. This program was the best thing that could have happened to me and I will continue to stay involved in the alumni network and look forward to future Smithsonian opportunities :)

  My favorite exhibit at the museum, the Vietnamese Tet Festival. 7/26, Wednesday  Due to Muneeba being on vacation this week, I mainly stayed in the art studio to support Evelyn. It was the longest time I had stayed in the studio. When Evelyn's meetings ended, she took over the art studio and I accompanied Jessica around the museum trying to find the department's missing foldable hand truck. Sadly, we never found it. We did, however, get to label all the standing holder signs with the name of the department it belonged too (one thing I learned about being in the museum is that every department is possessive of their belongings, sharing is a nonexistent term).  7/27, Thursday I brought my sister to the museum today. Holocaust Museum Houston Week 2: July 13-July 19 Roseliane Corona ॱ⋅.˳˳.⋅˙ॱᐧ.˳˳.⋅ઇଓ July 13 Education & Exhibits      So much happened today! High School Teachers came for a professional development workshop about teaching Contemporary Genocides. I was designated the photographer for the day. As I channeled my inner Michael, I also had the chance to listen in on the conversations in the classroom. One insightful conversation was about The Boy In Striped Pajamas .           What made the conversation so fascinating was how professionally the Education team handled this topic. They explained the shortcomings of this film to Holocaust education and provided alternatives, all while maintaining a calm tone and attitude. El Paso Museum of History - Week 4 - Deborah

  Week 4 July 31st Something about directories is that there are three different ways to search something up. The easiest would be by the business name, then the owner's name, and finally the hardest one is by address. Since I had already gone through most of these books and still couldn’t find the business by name, I had to do the hardest method and go by. I had to call in the pro,  Michael. Shoutout Michael!!!! He showed me how to search them up by address which is normally at the very end of the directory and for this method your map would be beneficial. After Michael taught me exactly how to do it, I got locked in and started doing my research that at first, made me frustrated because my progress was stunted for a while. However, I didn’t give up, I knew I needed to get this job finished so I continued looking.
