7/12 Day 6
Hello!!! Today was a pretty busy day for me because I was not on my laptop yesterday. The journalist who graduated from UT Austin emailed me asking about my aspirations revolving journalism and YAP. I took very long to reply because I wrote sooooo much(if you couldn't tell, I'm very descriptive🙈). I finally sent her the email and then remembered I had to update Dayanna about my story time. After that, I finished up my blog and uploaded it! I really enjoy viewing the others' blogs because it's so interesting to see how everyone's projects are different(and because I miss them😄). I then went outside to sit in a bench and upload photos I had taken to the OneDrive; the weather was super nice since there was sunshine and a light breeze(I LOVEE the sun). I was included in a department check in, and I got to learn about the many different projects the marketing and development team initiate and aid with; they even asked for my input which was soooo cool! I saw Roseliane's blog and realized I wanted to take a picture with the amazing people that are supervising me, so I asked for a picture, and they said yes! I also got an invitation from the president of IMAS to a luncheon for an organization that builds relations amongst women in business, and the speaker will be talking about ChatGBT! I'm so excited to meet awesome women from the RGV! The first week honestly flew by really fast. It probably feels that way since I'm having fun and learning new things!

7/13 Day 7
Hiii! Today was a really good day! I started the day by attending a cross department meeting in the library. The directors continued to discuss the grant from last week in order to make some finishing revisions. The project is actually reallyyyy cool because they're catering it to students from a DAEP (disciplinary alternative education program). I think exposure to different hobbies is so crucial because they can eventually become passions and then careers! I really applaud IMAS' mission with this project as it is to allow these students to explore new things that will maybeee get them out of the trouble they've gotten into😊. Later during the day, two different sponsors came in to take a photo with their checks. The one and only me was given the task to be the photographer! I was pretty nervous because I never used a camera in a professional setting. I was afraid they would never ever give money to IMAS because the picture came out blurry or something😟. Howeverrr, I did a pretty good job being a photographer! I gained a new skill now that I feel confident in taking pictures of sponsors! Since my boss is going out for vacation all next week, I asked her to assign me some projects/tasks to do while she's gone. She gave me a long list of things to do, and I'm so excited!! That's for later entries though. Towards the end of the day, my boss invited me to go get free raspas across the street with the rest of the staff! Today was just a really good day; I feel like as the days pass by, I'm gaining more confidence and am more open to learning about any little thing!

Hello! Today was the first day without having my boss here😢. I started my day off by replying to some emails I had pending and reading my book a little since I got here super duper early. I worked on my blog because I like writing them when the days are still fresh in my head. I also updated my planner with all the yappers' birthdays and my tasks and future events (I love my planner sooo much😋). I took some more pictures of the summer camp and ended up playing seven up and the telephone game! My boss requested that I write a press release about myself so I could learn how to write them and publish them. I did some research on how exactly to start a press release because I have no clue how, buttt that's a new thing that I'm learning!! A lot of the tasks my boss assigned me to complete while she's gone are scheduled for next week, meaning today was a prettyyyy long day of free time. I decided to read articles about different issues like uprising journalists, affirmative action, and college sports. I also looked into an internship that is hosted by a radio station near the UT campus that allows broadcast journalism students and others to shadow reporters or different journalists with concentrations in sports, news, and politics. I reallyyyy wanted to apply, but it wasn't available to freshman. It's ok, though, other opportunities will come up for sureee. I also updated my resume which needed editing. Overall, today was a slow yet productive day that has me looking forward to the weekend and next week!

7/17 Day 9
Hola! Today I began the day by attending a video filming for the Collage GALA. This week's campers are visual artists, so they are going to create a piece for the event that will be auctioned off. The video is meant to show how the piece was created. The campers took a tour of one of my favorite galleries here at IMAS, so I accompanied them with the IPad in my hand, like always, and took some pics! This group of campers are older than last week's, so some of them have really cool styles! After that, I used instagram reels for the first time and made a video draft of some content that could be posted for that gallery. I then began to write the press release. I also wrote for my newsletter article since I have already learned so many new things here at IMAS! Today was a great way to start the new week!

7/18 Day 10
Hello! As I was walking into the office this morning, there was a big trailer in the parking lot. The curatorial team was beginning to unload the next collection! I walked around the IMAS a bit after adding to my article, and I was able to see some of the boxes they brought down. Sadly, my internship would have already ended before they put up "Resilience"😢, but I'll be able to see some of the removal process of the collection they are taking down. I had an early lunch today since I was going to be busy during my usual break hour. I was in charge of taking pictures and videos of this week's campers actually painting because they hadn't began yesterday. The piece they're painting is supposed to be abstract; one is cool toned while the other is warm toned. The campers had total control of the paintings, and they were superrr creative! It was really cool to see the different visions on just two canvases; the kids were covered in paint by the end of it, and they had a lot of fun😁! After I finished that task, the education interns suggested I do a printed picture, so I did! It was super duper fun! When we finally said goodbye to the campers, I was introduced to a little birdie that was found outside the IMAS. I even got to feed him (one of the worms touched my hands, so I yelled😇). Today was a really good day especially since I was able be in charge of a significant task!

Overview:
All in all, this week was a very, very good one😊! I learned how to actually use a camera, and how to write a press release! I will continue to say this, education and willingness to learn are EXTREMELY crucial because are the foundation of futures. This is a mission that both the IMAS and Smithsonian promote and I am HERE FOR IT! I am all about kindling students' passions because it is sooo important that they have goals and ambitions. I love seeing the campers excited to complete their activities and ask questions because it reminds me of my experience in D.C! I truly believe YAP sparked something in me that was waiting to be ignited🙌!
You seem to be having so much fun!! I am so happy for you ! miss you :') I enjoyed reading this in your voice
