Yollocalli Arts Reach- Isai Week 4

JULY 24
Today’s week was really diverse due to the intensity of the work, there were days that were really calm and would spend the day helping kids with their projects then there would be other days that drained me so much I would fall asleep as soon as I got home.

Monday was the start of another  week and I mostly helped with office works and other stuff around the facility. Then on the afternoon,I helped Yollo’s team of councils to make an art project for the Boys and Girls Club on the other floor of our building. The council team were all peers of mine (ages 18-23) and it was fun making an art out of corn husk while watching K-pop on the TV. The council team doesn’t really come to yollocalli often aso whenever they come it’s always exiting because they are the only ones my age who relate to the stuff I like.

This Tuesday I scanned the students’ art and made a document to later share their art composition in social media later this fall. Our program is coming to an end soon so taking inspiration from the students ideas for next season’s projects is helping yollocalli by modeling a better class. Today I had to ask the students questions and information about their all around inspirations about what inspired them to make their art a reality . These are some of the few art projects finished this summer

July 26-27

These two days was mostly spend doing online work for lollapalooza coming later in early August. But I started making my Zine project these past two days. It was so fun looking back in pictures and starting to create a project I had full creativity over. Even when these two days weren’t the most amusing coming from an internship, it’s something I spent my time doing.

JULY 28

On Friday, I actually got to the process of cutting pictures for my Zine project. It was something that took most of my day trying to print and going to other stores to get prints. After cutting a few images and actually putting my Zine together I ended up not liking the results so I started a new Zine once again and made it fully digital on my ipad.

 JULY 31

On Monday I was halfway done with my last Zine project and just helped around with classes for the rest of the day. This week was really calmer than usual, it’s probably because of the upcoming ending of the summer program  stopping us from doing more things. After getting all lalapalooza plans planned out, I was going to spend my last 3 days working on lolapalooza stuff and my Zine project.

This day I also met Borrusia Dortmund players and it made my week special.

 August 1

Today was my last day in Yollocalli’s offices. I have fulfilled all my requirements and finally printed my entire Zine which will be displayed and passed out on the final event for yollocalli. I appreciate everyone who helped me out in yollocalli and taught me so much about expressing myself in many ways. Yollocalli is having their events while I’ll be set to leave for abroad on Thursday. I been so busy and I didn’t get to do too much on my last week. I will be sent to chaperone on my last day at Lollapalooza for yollocalli.  After all my hard works and efforts it is satisfying finally getting the results and feelings about finishing all of my work. I cant thank Yap and Yollo enough.

   August 2

Today was my official last day of my internship and I couldn’t ask for a better ending to a summer. After this day I will be on my way to Study Abroad at Costa Rica. Today Vanessa (my boss) brought me donuts to thank me for my work and impact. And I spent the entire day at lolla and received tickets to attend all events. In the event we learned the process and work the directors make to start another year of Lolla, and I was so interested on the process that I talked to the director and received his business card and will be attending an employee event soon at winter. I enjoyed being outside all day and after my trip at Lolla I went to the Chelsea Game and ended the day on a good note. Again I can’t take thank the team enough for this opportunity and chance to show what I can do and what I’m capable off. Even if I couldn’t do too much on this blog to show my appreciation, I am putting time in my work even when my entire schedule is filled for the rest of summer and school year. I am currently on the college dorm leaving in 4 hours to the airport. I can’t thank all of you guys enough and I wish to see any of you guys soon. Thank you for reading my blogs and keeping up with me , Isai. I know I haven’t had the most entertaining things to talk about or show but it means a lot that I have been chosen to take part of Yap for a reason.
Thank you and have a good rest of your summer and year:)
Until we meet again!!
Isai Urrutia, signing off👋
